For the Greatest Thing

For the greatest thing
I’ve read all the books with utmost diligence
With earnest sincerity
Pairs of people
Skin wrinkled across sun kissed days
Bodies becoming entangled yarns through song
The words jumped from the pages
Filling up eyes and heart,
Soaking them up, like rain to soil
Making them damp,
Then too wet, marking another year of lost harvest
They are weary of waiting
For that feeling
…what about me?
I’ve become the hazy clouds
Drifting through vivid blue backdrop
Shorter than few breaths of midsummer afternoon
Melting into water then rerising to cloud
In search of the greatest thing
…what about me?
I’ve practiced
With the greatest patience
To molt my soul with another
To soak myself up
In the essence of another
I’m tired of waiting
A kiss goodbye
Wishes of floating dandelion seeds
I’ve gone, searching for the greatest thing
That will complete me
…what about us?
